Buy a paper, get a free coffee

3rd March 2009

by Valeria Marchetti

Starbucks and the Guardian newspaper team up with an offer that benefits the average Joe.

The Guardian newspaper has vouchers which entitle you to a complimentary Cafe Estima Blend coffee.

Take it to the nearest Starbucks and present it. Believe it or not, you will receive a FREE STARBUCKS.

Free but with restrictions

As most of the free deals, limitations are not exempt.

• The offer is only valid on the day you buy your copy of the Guardian.

• It has to be after 2pm and only applies to Café Estima blend.

• This offer will last until 5th March 2009.

Even better reasons to get your free coffee

This initiative is being run in partnership with the environmental non-profit organization Fair Trade. It should provide small farmers in Africa or Asia with some financial assistance.

The move is part of the coffee company's Shared Planet program, which aims to commit the company to do business responsibly.

According to the Fair Trade web site, every Starbucks around United Kingdom and Ireland will have 100% Fair trade certificate coffee.

This means that the chain will become the largest purchaser of coffee in the world sponsored by Fair trade.

So enjoy your coffee and the thought that you can improve the lives of people in under-developed countries by doing so.
